WHIDBEY ISLAND KITE FESTIVAL (click for more info)

The info below from http://www.whidbeykites.org/

WHIDBEY ISLAND KITE FESTIVAL - A Festival of Colors
September 25-26, 2010, Central Whidbey welcomes the Whidbey Island Kite Festival to the Camp Casey Conference Center, just south of Coupeville.

Set against the majestic backdrop of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound, the kite festival features impressive ground and air displays of color and imagination. Activities include kids' kitemaking, beginning sportkite lessons, and sportkite demonstrations.

The highlight of the weekend is the Whidbey Island Sport Kite Championships, one of the premier sportkite competitions in the Pacific Northwest. Individual, pairs, and team events are included. Competition takes place both Saturday and Sunday. The Whidbey Island Sport Kite Championships is an AKA-sanctioned (www.aka.kite.org) event.

The Whidbey Island Kite Festival is presented by the Whidbey Island Kite Festival Association and the Whidbey Island Kite Fliers (www.whidbeykiteclub.com). It's a wonderful, fun-filled outing for the entire family.

There will be two mass ascensions - one Saturday and one Sunday. The first 40 people to sign up and participate in each event will receive a special-issue event pin. A mass ascension is where everyone is invited to fly a kite of the specified style on the field at the same time. The style of kite for Saturday is either delta or cellular and Sunday is flat/bowed or sparless.

There will also be a teddy-bear drop each day at 1:00 for children under 10.

The Central Whidbey Lions Club will have a booth at the field with hot dogs and soda. Also, you may order field-delivered deli lunches in advance by using the registration form.

For more information, call Allen Taylor at (360) 678-9358, call Mel Vance at (360) 675-4768, e-mail Allen.D.Taylor@verizon.net, or visit our website at www.whidbeykites.org.

Lam Hoac Trick Clinic in Lincoln City (click for more info)

Folks,

The clinic will be a 2 day event on June 25th and 26th (the Thursday and Friday before the Lincoln City Kite Festival starts on June 27th. Lam will cover any desired topic - dual line, quad line, tricks, routine planning and advice, music, general kite related questions, you name it. The clinic starts at 10:00 and ends at 4:30 with a break for lunch. Dinner will be on Thursday night after the clinic - details will be given there.

Lam has also agreed to make dinner one evening, so he can also teach us how to cook! smile.gif There will be a very reasonable cost to cover expenses and the optional dinner. Email me for details if you are interested in attending.

It's a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of the best flyers/teachers/designers/builders in kiting today, have alot of fun with other flyers, and get a great meal in one of the best areas available for flying kites. Don't miss it!

Here is a link I found that lists some hotels.

"First Annual Quincy Kites & Chutes Festival" (click for more info)

Just received this:

QUOTE
Hi

We are starting a kite festival for this spring, over Memorial weekend. We would like to invite you to attend... It's called the "First Annual Quincy Kites & Chutes Festival"

If there is any way you can pass the word to let kiters and others know about us we would appreciate it.

Last fall we organized a Hot Air Balloon Festival, and had 7 balloons and just over 1200 people for our inaugural event and are trying to do that and more with kites this spring.

We have about 50 Powered parachutes lined up. Yes they will be seperated from the kites so as not to have tangled lines. Food caterors are getting scheduled. Entertainment is being booked. We have talked to several kite people about demo's, kite making classes, etc. This should be a fun time for all.

The Powered parachute's are arriving on Thursday May 21st. They will have classes, rides, and certification activities going on daily Friday the 22nd through noon Monday the 25th. We are anticipating having the kites somewhat the same, unless you suggest we only be from Sat thru sun. or monday.

We are 15 miles from either Crescent Bar or the Gorge Amphitheater in George, They are both busy that weekend... so there should be plenty of people we could pull from them to attend...

We are halfway between Seattle & Spokane just off I-90 at exit 154 then 7 miles north.

The City of Quincy website is http://quincywashington.us/quincy/

The Chamber of commerce for Quincy is http://www.quincyvalley.org/

"Our goal is to make each and every event enjoyable, memorable, and beyond your wildest expectations!”

Parties on the Green's beautiful lawn can accommodate any large or small event. We are located on a 200 acre turf farm. So we have a LOT of room for your function. The property is 1/2 mile wide by 1 mile long of beautiful lush green grass. This property feels like a "golf course". We have 2 large tents, each tent can accommodate between 80 - 140 guests seated at round tables. Additional tents can be rented for all guests to be under cover. we have over 20 picnic tables that each seat 10 people, but you may want to bring a blanket or lawn chair?

Camping can be worked out on site but it would need to be self contained...

For more information on us you could look at our website at http://www.partiesonthegreen.com/ or call, e-mail or write.

Sincerely

Kent & Kim Bacon
