Icone rods have been especially designed for use with sport kites. Their development has required a great many prototypes and many test flight hours. This intense research and development in designing the Icone rods allows R sky to offer 3 versions in various weights for kites of different wind ranges. Their ability to flex while remaining strong and reactive allows for a more direct, connected feel between the flyer and kite during both light and aggressive maneuvers. Longer reinforcements on the ends have been added in order to resist breakage at the center T. These are tapered rods therefore, their flexibility and reactivity changes along the length. The various weight Icone rods are all interchangeable and may be used on the same kite, if desired, without ferrule size issues.

Icone rods are manufactured through several steps:
Sheet choice, rolling versus molding, sanding, enduction and printing.
